About Birmingham Loft Conversions

We convert lofts in houses across Birmingham and the West Midlands, from Sutton Coldfield and Solihull to Wolverhampton, Lichfield, Shrewsbury and Worcester: dormers, hip-to-gables, L-shaped dormers, rooflight, mansard and bungalow conversions. Every page on this site that states a planning rule names its source, and we keep those facts checked.

How we work

The house first
Every job starts with the roof, the stairs and the planning position, because they decide what is possible long before anyone talks about finishes.
The planning route first
Before anything is drawn we tell you whether your house is likely to need planning permission, a Lawful Development Certificate or an estate's consent, and why. It changes the design, the timescale and the price.
Quotes you can compare
Quotes are written after a survey and itemised, so you can see what is included and put them next to anyone else's.
Straight answers
If your loft is better suited to a different type of conversion from the one you asked about, or not worth converting at all, we will say so.

Where we work

Across Birmingham and the West Midlands, from Wolverhampton, Walsall and Dudley to Lichfield, Stafford, Telford, Shrewsbury, Kidderminster and Worcester. Our area pages set out the council, the conservation areas and any estate consents that apply in each district, and the planning guide covers the rest of the city.

Photos on this site

The photographs on this website are licensed from photographers and from Wikimedia Commons to illustrate the kinds of rooms, roofs and streets we write about. None of them shows our own work, and each one is labelled and credited on our image credits page. The section drawings are our own.
